Textiles PerformanceAn installation during 7th International Conference of Contemporary Cast Iron Art, in Pedvale, Latvia, June, 2014. The process of manifesting this installation was international and collaborative. We worked in a place of unfamiliarity and discomfort to create a beautiful and meaningful memorial; we were drawn together to reflect on a horrible past and to create closure and healing, through beauty. Installed in a synagogue that had been used as a gymnasium during Soviet Rule, and now converted into an artist run exhibition space, Anna collaborated with Margaret Coleman, and Justine Johnson created an installation of 241 paper stones with references to weaving and spinning. Anna then used images from the installation and related experiences of the preparations to create six mixed media panels that were exhibited at the Maine Jewish Museum in Portland Maine, the Wilson Center for Spiritual Exploration and Multifaith Dialogue at the University Maine Orono and Congregation Beth El, in Bangor, Maine.
