Sumi-e Works on Paper

Paper

In my home studio I have a “studio go-box” packed for brief escapes.  I go to places where I carve out a little time and space to quickly get a thought onto paper and let it dry.  In this “go-box” are sumi-e brushes a stone tablet, charcoal blocks, ink quills, gesso, paper salvaged from packing (the brown crumpled stuff) and twine.  There’s also a bag of watercolors just in case. This cardboard filing box has been at the ready since 2019.
