Sumi-e Works on Paper

Paper

In my home studio I have a “studio go-box” packed for brief escapes.  I go to places where I carve out some time and space to quickly get a thought onto paper.  In this “go-box” are sumi-e brushes a stone tablet, charcoal blocks, ink quills, gesso, paper salvaged from packing materials and twine.  There’s also a palette of watercolors, another water based medium. This cardboard box has been at the ready since 2019, and the method of working is now a staple of artistic practice for me.

Exhibited at: World’s Fair Gallery, Jala Studio, Angell Street Galleries
