Iron casting is a quest for beauty using an industrial material.  Bridges and pans are made of cast iron, revolutionizing how we travel and how we cook.  The iron age was pivotal in warmaking. In the 20th century backyard iron casting furnaces made a comeback for a small group of molten loving artists. Coral Lambert was my mentor at a US/UK Iron Residency and Symposium at Salem Art Works, Salem NY. The Steel Yard hosted many Iron Pours, both for casting and performative, over the years, in Providence RI.
