(stuff)
The artist makes and the viewer views. What compels an artist to make? An experience? A hunch?
Me:
I did it. It is a start. I’m fairly pissed at how much time and attention these little pieces of paper require. They are “just”trash, waste, scribbles on the backs of envelopes and scrap paper. And then they become larger than life. And I commit my time to them. It’s more insane than artful.
Him:
Looked at from a certain angle, all artistic creation is insane, right?
If you like what you’re making, then keep doing it.
If it feels like a compulsive activity that is sucking your soul dry, however ….
Me:
It's pretty silly. I don't want to be so self deprecating. Really I'm looking for ways to make something expressive using the things that accumulate around me. Like that scene in Brazil where the bureaucrat is glommed by paper in his weird little surveilled corner of the institution.
Her:
Oh! I find it enchanting!
Me:
Really???
Her:
Yes. A little pile of shredded stories.
It almost feels like something you stumble upon in a fairy tale (contemporary one... cuz looks like post-its) 😊
Me:
Lol. it is kind of like a weird sweet scrap paper monster.
(A cardboard sandwich!!!)
